California Business Success Tips

California is a great state for launching a new business or expanding an existing company.  Just ask any successful California entrepreneur or businessperson who has stuck with the Golden State.

Regardless of race, gender, lifestyle, national origin, religion or education, many business billionaires have been made in the most famous land of inventors, innovators and creators --- California, where dreams materialize.

I have known quite a few successful businessmen and businesswomen over the years.  Even the most casual chats with these sharp individuals can be better than a college business course for one who actively listens.

The most positive business influence throughout my life came through the successes of Conrad Hilton.  I can't help but measure all other business personalities against such a great man, but some individuals I've met have measured up pretty well.

For me, every conversation with great people in business is an equal exchange.  I receive the benefit of another's experience with failures and successes in the world of big business.  I reciprocate with an unusual perspective, brutal honesty, and a weird sense of humor.

Whether business leaders are from the entertainment, technology, manufacturing, financial or international trade industries, it seems that certain philosophies and practices are common to all whom I've met.

Here are some tips shared with me over the years from some very successful California businesspeople:
  • If you're busy building your own empire, you'll have no time to tear down somebody else's dream.
  • Life, itself, will teach you more than any college or university will ever be able to.
  • Experience refines one's perspective greatly.
  • Money and success are great, but you'll still want recognition.  Don't kid yourself.
  • Helping others to get ahead is the best way to advance yourself.
  • The most delicious success comes after the age of 40.
  • There's success, then there's California success!
  • A fool can easily handle poverty, but how many folks can really handle success and the big bucks?
  • All promotions are self-made.
  • Intelligence and wisdom are miles apart.
  • Small successes attract the big ones.
  • California is challenging for businesses, but the rewards are staggering.
  • Don't wait for success.  Hunt it down aggressively.
  • Know exactly where you're going, and watch the world step aside.
  • Maximize income, minimize expenses. Period.
  • Thoughts are contagious.  Be careful what you say.
  • A clear conscience is priceless.
  • Your tone speaks louder than your words.
  • Imitate only whom you truly admire.
  • Worry and success just don't mix.
  • Ego costs more money than anything else.
  • Imagination is worth a thousand PhD degrees.
  • Don't be perfect; just be honest.
  • Learn something from everyone you meet.
  • Happiness is all about DOING.
  • Love is wealth; fear is poverty.
  • Wisdom really is much better than gold.
  • Empower people, then watch your own dreams come true.
One thing I've noticed about businesspeople who are Californians is that they conduct business with a great vibe, a unique style and a sense of playful humor.  Business is fun!

Do you have a California business?  Are you starting a new enterprise in the Golden State?  May your success be as unlimited as your imagination is.
