An ode to classic Southern California beach culture, the video for "California Sunrise" quickly became an Internet smash hit.
Dirty Gold is a teenage band consisting of San Diego high school students Lincoln Ballif, John Ballif and Grant Nassif.
Dirty Gold describe their very cool musical sound as an eclectic combination of the following music genres:
- Afro Beat
- Experimental
- Beach Pop
- Surf Pop
I will admit that it's hard to pinpoint what 'slot' a California song like "California Sunrise" fits into but, hey, who cares? The song is Californiacentrically hip. I totally dig it.
You know, there's always hope for California's future when our cool young people use their talents and imaginations to create something which folks around the world enjoy.
Dirty Gold has a tremendous Southern California vibe --- and the group knows how to convey it. Very cool, indeed.
