Russian investor Yuri Milner has bought a French chateau-style mansion in Silicon Valley for $100 million.
The Russian billionaire purchased the California mansion through an LLC, and the deal is the biggest residential real estate sale of the year in California.
The opulent Los Altos Hills limestone mansion, built in 2009, provides 26,000 square feet and stunning views of the San Francisco Bay.
Milner is the billionaire CEO of Digital Sky Technologies, whose investments include Facebook, Groupon and Zynga.
Designed by architects William Hablinski and Richard Manion, the estate has a ballroom, home theater, wine cellar, tennis court, spa, gym, indoor pool, outdoor pool, car wash and formal gardens.
Catherine Marcus of Sotheby's International Realty and Ken Deleon of Keller Williams Realty handled the real estate deal.
Located on Paloma Road in Los Altos, the $100 million 5-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 11-acre estate was purchased from Fed Chan, founder of ESS Technology.
For the record, Facebook shares were NOT used in the transaction.
Yuri Milner, his wife and two daughters will certainly enjoy exchanging Russian winters for California weather and the innovative excitement of Silicon Valley.
