"California Girls" Beach Boys
Sunday, June 12, 2011
"California Girls" is a 1965 pop California song by the iconic rock band The Beach Boys from Hawthorne, California.
Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, "California Girls" is a permanent part of California culture and Americana, and it has earned more royalties than any song by The Beach Boys.
Honored by Rolling Stone, TIME, Billboard and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, "California Girls" is one of the most gigantic California anthems in the history of music.
The song was produced by Brian Wilson, one of history's most notable music producers, who has been imitated, copied, borrowed from, and ripped off probably more than any musician since Mozart.
"California Girls" charted internationally, becoming a smash single in many nations around the world, capturing the global imagination in the process.
There have since been countless songs about California written, recorded, released and performed --- and it continues today --- but The Beach Boys were there at the beginning of it all.
