"California Love" is a 1995 hip hop California song by legendary rapper/songwriter and actor Tupac Shakur aka 2Pac.
2Pac's most successful song, "California Love" was produced by West Coast rap superstar Dr. Dre and featured Roger Troutman.
The Grammy-nominated hip hop California anthem reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was an international multi-platinum smash single.
Famous for the phrase, "California knows how to party", the song gives lyrical nods to Los Angeles, Compton, Watts, San Diego, the Bay Area, Long Beach, Rosecrans, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Pasadena, Inglewood and Hollywood. The original music video, set in the year 2095, was inspired by the 1980s Mel Gibson/Tina Turner movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Directed by Hype Williams, the video for "California Love" co-stars musician George Clinton and actor Chris Tucker.
One of the most popular songs about California ever recorded, "California Love" by 2Pac is a song that will still be playing as long as the Golden State itself exists.
