Jimmy Wong is a popular Chinese-Californian rock musician, YouTube star, actor, filmmaker and co-owner of the Los Angeles media production company Overcrank Media.
Wong, 24, initially gained fame as a musical parody artist on YouTube, but the talented singer is racking-up fans with his alternative rock vocal interpretation of Britney Spears' current hit song "I Wanna Go".
Jimmy Wong's music video for the cover song features his talented rock band in an L.A. studio performing a jaw-dropping emo interpretation of the song composed by songwriters Shellback, Max Martin and Savan Kotecha.
After watching Britney's great video to "I Wanna Go", I was sent Jimmy Wong's version of the song. I was floored. I was still blown away after repeated viewings. WOW. Sorry, Brit. I like Jimmy's version way better.
Does Jimmy Wong's interpretation portray the level of emotional intensity intended by the songwriters? Ask U2's Bono, who has already enjoyed the video's passionate sound, reminiscent of the Irish singer in 1980.
Wong definitely rocks. Enjoy his fantastic video (below), then check out the Jimmy Wong YouTube channel for more from this great L.A. artist.
