The "guy" Katy Perry married last year had filed for divorce in Los Angeles, claiming "irreconcilable differences," but he's not getting $20 million out of his superstar wife.
"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends," said the husband, who was unknown in America until he married the California music superstar.
Perry and the "guy" met in 2009 and married in India 14 months ago. Now it's Dissolution of Marriage without a California prenup --- but he says he doesn't want Katy's money, so she's is keeping it all.
Katy Perry is also keeping her own name, legally, and has been granted custody of the cat. Meow.
The husband and the Santa Barbara-born singer spent Christmas 2011 apart, so rumors of divorce had already been circulating for a while. Now the Katy Perry divorce drama has officially begun, thanks to the "guy."
Perry has moved out of the mansion she shared with the "guy" and into a 5-bedroom Hollywood Hills home of her own.A judge finalized the Katy Perry divorce last week, although the couple will not be legally split up until July 1, 2012. California has a 6-month waiting period for a divorce to be final.
Katy Perry, 27, was recently named MTV Artist of the Year after a record-breaking string of #1 songs that began with the mega-smash "California Gurls" and she won five People's Choice Awards last month too.
The soon-to-be-ex-"guy" is widely reported to be dating a Mexican painter he picked up at Yoga.
