Elly May vs Barbie Lawsuit Settlement

December 29, 2011

After The Beverly Hillbillies' Elly May Clampett went toe-to-toe with Barbie in a lawsuit over the "Elly May" Barbie doll, Mattel has settled with actress Donna Douglas.

Forget that old family feud between the Hatfields and McCoys.  Here's a case that seems just a little too tailor-made for Californiality --- The Battle of the California Blonde Icons.

Elly May Clampett vs. Elly May Barbie

Iconic '60s TV actress Donna Douglas has declared a hillbilly truce with CBS and El Segundo, California toymaker Mattel after a financial settlement that demands confidentiality on details.

"She was happy with the result," said Charles von Simson, attorney for the iconic blonde Hollywood actress.

The hillbilly Barbie doll, released a year ago, made her debut in jeans, a rope belt, blonde pigtails, and a photo of Donna Douglas as Elly May Clampett.  What's more, the lawsuit stated that a promotional description of the "Elly May" Barbie doll even named Donna Douglas.

CBS and Mattel jointly declared that they did not need the actress' permission or legal consent because the CBS television network owns exclusive rights to the Elly May Clampett character.

"The matter was settled to mutual satisfaction," is just about all that attorneys representing Mattel and CBS would say about the settlement.

From 1962-1971, Donna Douglas performed as Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies, the popular CBS television comedy about a backwoods family that strikes oil and moves to Beverly Hills for a life among the "swimming pools and movie stars."

Californiality loves both Barbie and Elly May, so it is a great relief that this Battle of the California Blondes is finally over, and that the cities of Beverly Hills and El Segundo can both sleep under a newly found peace every night.

Elly May has certainly made her kinfolks Jed Clampett, Granny and Jethro proud, y'all.

ELLY MAY HITS CALIFORNY!

California Booster Seat Law 2012

The new California Booster Seat Law, effective January 1, 2012, prohibits parents, guardians, or drivers from transporting on a highway in a motor vehicle any child under 8 years old without securing that child in a child restraint meeting federal motor vehicle safety standards.

The new child safety seat law for 2012 imposes stiff fines and penalties for violations, including the possibility of child endangerment charges.

The old California Booster Seat Law had required a child under 6 years of age, who weighed less than 60 pounds, to be secured in a rear seat in a child restraint that met federal standards, but allowed the child to ride in the front seat if properly secured, including riding in taxis if all rear seats are already occupied by children under 12 years of age.

The new California law for 2012 extends the old law by requiring children to ride in booster seats in the back seat until their 8th birthday.

Seat belts are made for average adults and don't fit a child who is not at least 4'9" tall. 6-7 year old kids are at risk because they might be too big for child car seats and yet too small to be protected by seat belts.

A booster seat raises the child up, so the seat belt allows the lap belt to lay across the upper thighs (rather than the child's stomach), and allows the shoulder harness to lay across the shoulder and chest (rather than across the neck or face).

Statistics show that using a booster seat, as opposed to a seat belt, reduces a kid's risk of injury by 59 percent, thus the new 2012 California Booster Seat Law.

The new California car seat law does contain a provision, however, that a child under 8 years of age who is 4'9" inches in height or taller may use a safety belt rather than a child safety seat or booster seat.

Special thanks to Californiality reader Terra for helping to protect our kids by pointing out that this important law had escaped the list of new California laws for 2012.  All Californians must be aware of this new child safety law.

Read the entire 2012 California Booster Seat Law (SB 929) for yourself and avoid endangering a California child --- and prevent yourself from getting busted too.

Poison Paradise

California has been called the Poison Paradise, precariously poised on micro-thin lines which intersect good and evil, fantasy and reality, decadence and destitution, male and female, life and death --- and all or nothing.

Populations around the world know exactly what California "is" according to a universally conglomerate image comprised, itself, of images.

Californians, however, have a different corporate perspective as a society.  With 40 million Californians, though, there are 40 million unique perspectives on what, exactly, California is all about.

Ask a 40-year resident of the Golden State for their take on California, and you'll get a multiplicity of perspectives all rolled into a general philosophy which steps outside established American norms.

Ask someone who has been here that long, but has also wandered in California's ethereal wilderness, sleepless and starving, for 40 days and 40 nights --- and you'll get some penetrating insights which the rest of the Internet cannot and will not offer.

Poison Paradise

Most people attracted to California are obsessed with the concept of a personal, highly-individualized, custom-designed, liberated, limitless lifestyle.

In California, you can legally change your marital status, nose, boobs, religion, hair color, culture, name, sexual preference, career, gender, income level, philosophy, reputation, ideals and morals.

In the Golden State, you can be as anonymous or globally famous as you wish.  You can fulfill your wildest fantasies, pursue your boldest visions and reinvent yourself to the zenith of insane extremes.

Success, happiness and fulfillment are all possible here --- though none are guaranteed.

As far as those you might see on television, who say "I love what I do, and I can't believe I get paid all this money to do it," most of them are in California, that's true.  What they won't tell you is everything it took to get there, which is an awful lot.

Life is a journey; an adventure; a series of ups and downs.  In California, many things seem to manifest in extremes --- unfathomable extremes, in fact.

Now, you may be reading this and thinking, "Well, maybe all this might be true about L.A. or Hollywood, but certainly not the whole state."

Don't kid yourself.  Even in the forests, the desert and the mountains, Californians know they're Californians.  Something rather unique comes with a California driver's license.

Call it a status; a special right; a unique place in world society.  Whatever it is, it's real --- or at least it feels real, and that's what seems to matter.

Some Californians just feel entitled.

California is a heavily emotional state, loaded with sensitivities, feelings and creative urges, all of which are respected and protected --- many of which are even protected by law.

Some impulses here have contributed to the welfare of all; the betterment of planet Earth; the forward advancement of humanity.  Other impulses have led mankind down to the depths of depravity.

California is, after all, the serial killer capitol of the world, as well as the child porn capitol and the cult capitol.  Just sayin'.

You are reading this article on the Internet, though, which would not have been possible but for the thousands of technology geeks who live in California.  More fantastic things than not come from the Golden State.

To be truly honest, you have to take the good with the bad.  It helps, though to keep your eyes open in order to recognize the good and the evil.  In California, both grow wild and free.

In the Garden of Eden, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was the option chosen, which led to excommunication and a dramatic wilderness experience.

Outside the Garden, there was nothing but Joshua Trees, desert sand, dust, heat, drought, fires and nakedness --- like Los Angeles a thousand years ago, actually.

Today, California sells eternal life through the human cloning perfected by the state's biotech industry --- and what better place to live out the centuries than a man-made Garden of Eden, complete with millions of planted palm trees and water pumped in from other states?

Eureka, baby. We have found it.  Totally.

As the most famous society on earth, California is so confident in its ability to forever survive and thrive that special attention can be given to passing state laws based on what sex organs individuals have and whatever alternative lifestyle provides the strongest orgasm.

It simply is not enough for us to exercise our free choice.  Evidently, we must legislate both morality and immorality --- equally, though, and with the utmost emphasis on political correctness.

The rest of the world thinks we've gone crazy, but they just can't stop staring.

No worries, though.  When things get too confusing, Californians always have the freedom to escape through addictions, toxic relationships and narcissistic expression.

Those who know California best will attest that I'm being very candid here, so don't be too shocked.  This stuff is daily business in the Golden State --- and quite profitable, apparently.

Did you think that the Eagles' songs, "Hotel California" and "Life in the Fast Lane" were just groovy songs written while high?  Upon arrival in California, the songwriters simply looked around and documented what they saw.  Easiest songwriting in the world, really.

How exactly can the same state that is the official Megachurch Capitol of the World also be the headquarters for the Worldwide Church of Satan?  That, my friends defines California in a nutshell.  Understand that, and understand all.

California promises women that they can achieve independence, complete with the domination, money, power and balls of a man.  In fact, women can simply become men through gender reassignment.  No biggie.  California is, after all, the land of "I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar."

California promises men beautiful "California girls" by the dozen, complete with access to the "sacred feminine" and all which embodies pink, fluffy beauty.  Some men, however, buy into the whole scene and internalize it as they go after other men.  Some others just become women with great boob jobs.

There are, perhaps, far too many folks in California who feel they have a right to instant mansions, swimming pools, million dollar cars and billion dollar bank accounts on-demand.

There's certainly nothing wrong with ambition, but demanding lazy wealth and global fame in 15 minutes is a little delusional.  Too many narcissistic visions while dancing naked in front of the mirror while high.

The land of "Free Love" and "If It Feels Good, Do It" continues to rage and reign as the world cheers on.

Oh, to be tan, blonde, rich, famous, beautiful, sexy, high and out of control --- and addicted to it all.  A toxic California Dream, but a dream nonetheless.

California, itself, can be addictive for many who never seem to get enough of a "poison paradise," so click play and wait 13 seconds for the IV drip to commence.

Though the song has received millions of negative reviews, "Friday" entered several music charts around the world.  The song is one of the top-20 most watched videos of all time on YouTube.

"Anyone who can create this much controversy within a week, I want to meet," said TV talent critic Simon Cowell.  "She's the most talked-about artist in America."

California teens truly are amazing, indeed.  Way to go Rebecca!

Jordan Romero is now the youngest person to climb to the summits of the highest mountains on all seven continents at 15 years old.

A teenager from Big Bear, California, Jordan Romero has achieved his goal of reaching the top of Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica, setting a world record as the youngest to conquer the world's Seven Summits.

Romero beat the record previously held by George Atkinson of the UK, who scaled the Seven Summits at age 16.

At age 10, Jordan Romero climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa.  At age 13, the teen athlete scaled the highest mountain on earth, Mt. Everest, which this blog covered in the April 2010 article California Teen vs Mt. Everest.

The Southern California teenager has also climbed Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, Mt. McKinley in Alaska, and Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia.

"Legendary day," said the San Bernardino County teen after scaling his 7th Summit in Antarctica.  "We thank every single person and every sponsor that helped us get all the way here."

Californiality congratulates Jordan Romero on fulfilling his dream to climb all the way to the top of the world's Seven Summits while making every Californian very proud.

Mel Gibson's divorce is final and his net worth of nearly $1 billion has been split in the most expensive divorce in Hollywood history.

Robyn Moore, 55, the ex-wife of Mel Gibson, 55, will receive half his fortune as the couple, married for 31 years, had no prenuptial agreement.

Among Mel Gibson's assets are $660 million earned from The Passion of the Christ film, $140 million in real estate holdings, $100 million for film and television projects that Gibson produced, and $80 million in other investments and personal property.

"I left my wife because we had no spiritual common ground," Mel Gibson recently said as ex-wife Robyn Moore said, "Mel was a wonderful and loving father."

Robyn Moore and Mel Gibson first met in the late 1970s when they were neighbors in Adelaide, South Australia. They have one daughter, six sons, and three grandchildren together.

The Christian couple married on June 7, 1980 and separated in July 29, 2006.  Robyn Moore Gibson filed for divorce on April 13, 2009 and the dissolution of marriage was finalized on December 23, 2011.

The divorce settlement becomes effective on January 9, 2012.

Mel Gibson is still an outstanding actor, producer, Academy Award-winning director and investor, and 2012 will see the superstar back in the driver's seat of a stellar career.

"California Christmas" Leah Felder

December 24, 2011

"California Christmas" is a 2011 holiday song about California by pop singer Leah Felder from Malibu, California.

Leah Felder, the daughter of singer Don Felder of the Eagles, is a Malibu native who grew up on the beach and began performing at age 14.

The Southern California singer's talent and experience is expertly displayed on "California Christmas."

She also is one half of the duo Brandon and Leah with her fiance, guitarist Brandon Jenner, who is the son of Bruce Jenner, who is the stepfather of Kim Kardashian, who is the one who turned Californiality onto Leah's cool new Christmas classic.

Regardless of who Leah Felder is related to, "California Christmas" is an outstanding song performed by a skilled vocalist who knows first-hand what Christmas in California is really like.

The following audio is in lieu of a real video --- a teaser, if you will --- from the singer's upcoming Holiday 2012 album, called what else?...

...California Christmas

Leah Felder is a fantastic singer, so listen and enjoy "California Christmas," one of the best songs about California this year (or any year).

Judy Mikovits Arrest & Retraction Drama

December 23, 2011

Dr. Judy Mikovits, the scientist whose research suggested that a virus could cause Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, has been fired, arrested and jailed in California, judged in Nevada, and her research paper has been retracted by the journal, Science.

It has been one hell of a year for Judy Mikovits, and the global scientific community is still reeling from the shock as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients rekindle their hope for a cure.

After being fired from Reno, Nevada's Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Diseases in September, Judy Anne Mikovits was arrested at her Ventura County, California home in November as a "fugitive from justice."

The scientist was locked up at jails in Santa Paula and Ventura and initially denied bail.  After her appearance before a Ventura County Superior Court judge, bail was set for $100,000, then she was released in humiliation.

At first, Dr. Mikovits denied Nevada allegations that she removed notebooks and proprietary information from her former employer, the Whittemore Peterson Institute, where she had been the research director.

Mikovits later returned some but not all of the lab notebooks and one computer that allegedly had its hard drive wiped.  Another computer is in the custody of police, but what is on it is allegedly top-secret.

Her former employer claims that Mikovits' own laboratory notebooks have yet to be returned as the drama apparently goes on into 2012.

Just days ago, a Nevada judge granted a default judgment in the civil lawsuit in favor of the institute, ordering Judy Mikovits to pay attorney's fees over alleged "misappropriation" of lab notebooks, computer data and trade secrets as well as breach of contract.

Mikovits still faces criminal charges for "possession of stolen property."

"WPI wins not because they have a judge or jury decide the merits in their favor, they win by default, literally," declared Scott Freeman, Mikovits' attorney in her criminal case.

If the scientist's criminal trial goes forward, Freeman expects it to take place in Spring 2012.

Mikovits had led the research effort that reported the retrovirus known as Xenotropic Murine leukemia virus-Related Virus (XMRV) as a possible cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Her findings sparked widespread criticism from the scientific establishment.

Judy Mikovits was eventually branded an outcast, then was fired by WPI.  She left the Reno research facility and returned to her home in Southern California, where she was handcuffed by police officers and taken into custody --- an entire month later --- as a "fugitive."

The Mikovits Controversy

Dr. Mikovits had boldly asserted that the virus, XMRV, caused symptoms associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Parkinson's disease, Autism, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's Disease, Fibromyalgia and Gulf War Syndrome.

More shocking, Mikovits stated that the virus is communicable.  She also declared that the virus is "clearly circulating through the population" and that the virus has already entered the nation's blood supply.

The scientific establishment ultimately reacted to the findings with an aggressive front of denial, criticism and the discrediting of her years of research as loudly as possible.

Initially, Dr. Judy Mikovits garnered widespread recognition and acclaim after her findings were published in one of the world's premier journals, Science.

Her findings sparked hope in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients and Dr. Mikovits' calendar began filling up with international speaking engagements.

Fast-forward to today:

Mikovits' scientific paper, welcomed by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients as a glimmer of hope, has been fully retracted by the editors of the journal, Science, who published the paper two years ago.

Their retraction formally removes the study from the scientific record, which means professional shame and separation for Dr. Judy Mikovits from the world's body of scientists.

"Science has lost confidence in the report and the validity of its conclusions," said editor-in-chief Bruce Alberts. "We regret the time and resources that the scientific community has devoted to unsuccessful attempts to replicate these results."

The Science editor put a rather damning capstone on the Judy Mikovits arrest and retraction drama of 2011 by declaring, "I think this whole thing has been a tragedy for science."

Crucify her as a heretic!  Burn her at the stake as a witch!  Stone her for her sins!  Let her rot in prison as a criminal, forever stripped of any dignity!

It is surprising to see the myriad emotions displayed lately by a scientific community so proud of its stoic intellectualism.

One who is a criminal to some is a heroine to others.  It is a matter of perspective.

It is said that the number of times a person falls is not as important as the number of times they get back up.  Dr. Judy Mikovits will get back up and --- believe it or not --- many Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients are counting on it.

Shroud of Turin Conspiracy

The Shroud of Turin was not faked and could possibly be real, according to Italian researchers using 21st century technology to scientifically test the alleged burial cloth of Jesus Christ.

Experts at Italy's National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Development have concluded that the purported burial cloth of Jesus Christ could not have been faked.

The government agency's report officially proclaims:

"The double image of a scourged and crucified man, barely visible on the linen cloth of the Shroud of Turin, has many physical and chemical characteristics that are so particular that the staining, which is identical in all its facets, would be impossible to obtain today in a laboratory."

The Italian government scientific agency concluded that the post-crucifixion burial cloth could not have been technologically manipulated in Medieval times, as has been theorized in the past by skeptics screaming "Fake!" as believers were yelling "Real!"

"The most advanced technology available today is unable to replicate all the characteristics of the Shroud image," declared head researcher Paolo Di Lazzaro.  "The probability the Shroud is a Medieval fake is really low."

"It appears unlikely a forger may have done this image with technologies available in the Middle Ages or earlier," Di Lazzaro added.

The Shroud's imprint of a male, which many believe to be Jesus Christ The Son Of God, bears blood stains from typical Roman crucifixion wounds.

The detailed imprint is believed to have resulted from a powerful flash of light at the moment of resurrection.

After conducting many tests with X-rays and ultraviolet light technology in their attempts to replicate the Christ image, the scientific researchers concluded that:
  • No laser existed nor exists that can replicate the exact markings on the burial cloth.
  • The markings could not have come from direct contact of the body with the Shroud linen.
  • The markings could not have come from dyes or pigments.
  • The markings could only have been made by a short and intense burst of VUV directional radiation.
  • VUV technology did not exist in the time the skeptics claim the Shroud was faked.
The Shroud is official property of the Vatican, though the Roman Catholic Church takes no official position on the authenticity of the holy burial cloth.

Most dedicated Christian believers do not require absolute proof that the Shroud of Turin is real in order to justify their faith in Jesus Christ, which is based on a multiplicity of other spiritual factors.

End of story, interesting spiritual tidbit, thank you very much, and goodbye.

But wait --- what about The Ultimate 2012 Conspiracy Theory?

While the above "Shroud of Turin Legitimized by Scientists" story is being widely circulated around the world through every form of media (ad nauseam) as the year 2012 begins, could there be more to the story?

Is something larger than a burial cloth unfolding before our eyes?

Let's be frank.  People around the world expect a little more out of California, which many still refer to as "The Granola State" or "The Land Of Fruits, Nuts & Flakes."

California is, after all, a land famous for illusion, fantasy, open minds and alternative theories.  As well, the Golden State is a famous land of technology, biotechnology and many other assorted sciences that push mankind past the limits of knowledge headlong into the mysteries of the unknown.

Californiality is certainly not afraid to publicize the most popular conspiratorial angle to the Shroud of Turin story --- an angle which has grown exponentially viral on the Internet over the past four years.

While not necessarily espousing such a sensational theory, Californiality will honor the endless emails requesting at least a mention of a 2012 conspiracy wilder than the December 21, 2012 Mayan Calendar End-Of-The-World thing, which is already overplayed.

For the faint of heart, the following is like electroshock therapy and a bit harsh, so buh-bye.  For the braver souls (including Hollywood screenwriters) read on as a second California blogger now takes over to explain it all in non-scientific Valley vernacular:

The 2012 Shroud of Turin Conspiracy Theory

Okay, so here's the deal.  Supposedly, some dudes lifted some live blood cells off of the Shroud of Turin, or brought them back to life, or whatever.  So, the big idea was to clone another Jesus Christ from the burial cloth itself.

In like around 1969, the scientist guys freeze-dried the cells until they could be placed in a virgin womb.  I know, freaksville.  It has the feel of "Rosemary's Baby," you know, that scary movie.

Anyway, so fast-forward to England, Diana and that Wedding Of The Century in 1981, I think.  The thing was that Diana had some kind of missing DNA that was needed to complete a bloodline puzzle to unite all the thrones of Europe.

Plus, there was some theory about the Archbishop of Canterbury, who is kind of like the Pope of the Church of England, declaring in the 1930s that Queen Elizabeth II's dad, King George VI, was related to the old kings of Israel, like King David and King Solomon of Jerusalem.

Okay, the whole thing is like mind-blowingly weird, but it gets freakier than that, so check it out.

Anyway, the deal allegedly was that Diana had to legally marry Prince Charles, who was in line to be king.  Their firstborn son would be like a descendant of every throne, giving him a title like "King of Kings and Lord of Lords."

And born of a virgin.

I don't know about you, but that kind of trips me out, but let's move on.

So then, if he is the clone of The Son Of God, then it could be as if he actually is God in the eyes of the world.  Then everybody starts worshipping and he has all the power, or something like that, which is like totally Heebie-Jeebieville.

I kid you not, the big story is that they gave Diana a C-section at a certain moment, when the sun was at its highest during the Summer Solstice of 1982 --- you know, the year of The Jupiter Effect and all that.

Even freakier, they gave the baby boy the name, William Arthur.  When he becomes king, supposedly after he turns 30 in 2012, it is said that he will use the name King Arthur as his royal name.

Then that whole Knights of the Round Table thing gets resurrected, complete with another Merlin the Magician who does "signs and wonders" in front of the world.

What totally freaks Christians out about this scenario is that this "Sun King," as a clone of Jesus Christ, will sit in the holy temple, showing himself as God.

It was the real Jesus, himself, who said that the BODY is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

It makes sense that the HOLIEST body would be the body of Christ, so what better body to clone, really? For sure.

I know.  The whole deal is hard to swallow, and it's totally "Twilight Zone," but that's the story that's been floating around for years about the Shroud of Turin.

So, I kind of have a total vibe about 2012 and all this Illuminati drama going on, especially after Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry have all left their marks on Southern California in the last few months.

Why SoCal all of a sudden out of the blue?  I thought that all the attention was focusing on London for the 2012 Olympics, hello?

What's up with California, dudes?  SPAIN was the kingdom that built and ruled California, not England.

Talk about an "Occupy" movement surrounding Los Angeles --- the city named after The Queen of Angels, the Greek goddess Isis, who is also the Roman goddess Diana.

Anyway, if this stuff is all a total "conspiracy theory," then it seems to me that every bit of the whole plan would hinge on the legitimacy of the Shroud itself, right?

Isn't it a total trip that --- just as the big year 2012 kicks off --- scientists suddenly declare that the Shroud of Turin is totally legit?  Woah.

Righteous, dudes.

California Dream Act Backlash

December 22, 2011

The California Dream Act has caused a backlash after recently being signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.

The controversial legislation to help illegal aliens pay for college will be repealed if opponents get their way.

California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-Hesperia) is gathering signatures for a referendum to eliminate part of the California Dream Act.

505,000 signatures are needed to qualify a referendum for the November 2012 ballot to get rid of Assembly Bill 131, which lets illegal aliens get taxpayer-funded scholarships for free.

Assemblyman Donnelly said the California Dream Act, which takes effect January 1st, will create a magnet for record levels of illegal immigration to California.

"At a time when we're broke, when we have 2 million people unemployed, when state colleges are underfunded and overbooked, we're creating a brand new entitlement," Donnelly declared.

The California Dream Act was proposed by Assemblyman Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles), consisting of two bills, both of which Democrat Jerry Brown signed into law:
  1. AB 130, which gives illegal aliens privately-funded scholarships
  2. AB 131, which gives illegal aliens taxpayer-funded scholarships
Donnelly's proposed referendum targets only the second part of the new California law, the part that hands the tax dollars from legal citizens over to illegal aliens.

Supporters of the California Dream Act say that California's working families have a responsibility to invest in a university education for undocumented immigrants, and they say that Assembly Donnelly's efforts will fail.

This stance has outraged a growing number of California taxpayers, many of whom cannot afford to put their own children through college.

Because of the California Dream Act, the Department of Finance estimates that thousands of students will now get Cal Grants costing tens of millions of US dollars.

To qualify the referendum, Donnelly and volunteers must collect 505,000 validated signatures by January 6th.  The state assemblyman said that, based on the barrage of phone calls to his office, he knows he can gather all of the signatures on time.

"This really struck a nerve," said Tim Donnelly of the current California Dream Act backlash that is reverberating statewide.

"There's just a lot of demand," Donnelly added. "It's not like we have to talk to people and try to convince them."

In a rare example of multi-partisan cooperation, many concerned Californians are presently sacrificing holiday time with families to collect signatures in front of retail locations and public gathering spots across the state to beat the January 6th, 2012 signature deadline.

January 6th Update: Though nearly all of the necessary petition signatures were gathered, there were not enough to repeal the California Dream Act.

Face Your California Dream

Has your California Dream run out of gas and abandoned you in the desert, leaving you frustrated and doubting yourself?

You might have the wrong California Dream.

Whether you are presently rich or broke, famous or unknown, healthy or physically impaired, saint or sinner, your California Dream is not as important as the motive behind it.

Is your California Dream one that came from your parents?  Kill it.  Did your dream come from magazines, movies or television?  Throw it in the trash.  Is your California Dream really someone else's dream, such as a controlling spouse's?  Escape it.

Face Your California Dream Head-On

Your California Dream is deeply personal.  It's not a dream shared by anybody else.  If you're carrying around somebody else's dream in your head, you must face the fact that somebody else's agenda is attached to it.  If the dream is not yours, then you're wasting your life.

California is the only place in the world that actually welcomes your weird invention, your 'crazy' idea, and your bizarre vision.  Without freaky minds, California wouldn't be the foremost trendsetter on the planet.  Ideas which are fresh and unique keep the Golden State perennially 'golden'.

While ideas are of the realm of the mind, desire and determination are properties of the soul.  Your truest and deepest California Dream is in your soul, installed by the Creator.

If you really believe that humans came from monkeys, then go and ask a monkey about your life.  Otherwise, ask your Creator what your purpose really is.  From that point, you are unstoppable.

Liberate Your California Dream

As a child, you came into this world with distinctive talents and an awareness of who you were.  Did parents, teachers, friends, religion and the media fill your head with their own desires and expect you to cooperate with their own agendas?  You really must ask yourself if you're helping with everyone else's dreams and neglecting your own.

Perhaps your California Dream is a lesser one that you've simply 'settled' for out of fear and lack of self-confidence.  An 'easier' dream is easier to fulfill, but are you really fulfilled through small achievements?  California is a big place of big dreams, big accomplishments and overwhelming influence.  Where is your place in it?

The California Dream must be faced head-on.  It must be bold.  It must be big.  If your California Dream seems impossible, then it might be the right one.

California is where the impossible becomes the cure for mankind, the explosive phenomenon, the #1 best seller of all time, the unbelievable success, the worldwide standard, the pinnacle of history, the ultimate achievement and the indisputable BEST.

Your California Dream Is Unique

Your California Dream must come from the deepest desire within you.  It must be your greatest mission, your consuming passion and the purpose of your life.  You must be willing to spend yourself for the advancement of your dream.  If you've chosen California as your stage, then start acting.

Do not expect everybody else to share your California Dream.  You walk alone.  We all do, ultimately.  Your parents did not create you --- they simply had sex.  Your spouse is not forever --- marriage vows only stipulate "til death".

You will stand before your Creator alone and, for right now, you walk alone.

You need permission from nobody to forge your own path, your own way, on your own terms, and in your own time.  Many before you have successfully done it.  You can do it too.

Your California Dream already belongs to you alone --- legally and entirely.  Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.

If your California Dream has died, then die with it.  All the way.  Then resurrect yourself and your dream anew.  It is absolutely possible, to the point of inevitability, if the desire of your heart is one of honor.  Your success will eventually surpass your own vision.

To face your California Dream is to face your entire existence.  Face it now, fearlessly, without deference to any agenda of another person who will die.  Others don't have your answers.  Others are not you.  Others cannot, and will not, walk your path.

You Walk Alone.

Yahoo! Sign Destroyed

The famous Yahoo! billboard has been be torn down and is gone forever.

The 1950s motel-style neon Yahoo! sign stood as a world-famous landmark at the eastbound approach to the Bay Bridge since the Web 1.0 days, when Yahoo! was the wildest dot-com in the west.

Yahoo! took down the nostalgic billboard after 12 years, leaving the San Francisco Bay Area forever stripped of a glittering part of its identity.

Mourners say dismantling the Yahoo! billboard in San Francisco is equal to burning down the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.

The outcry in support of the billboard did not stop the vintage sign from being destroyed, erased and forgotten.

As 2012 begins, Yahoo! is now "focused on new and innovative ways to market the company," so the '50s motel theme of the billboard was too backward-looking for a corporation planning to own a chunk of the future.

It is the end of a golden era, not the end of the company.

California Sues Fannie & Freddie

December 20, 2011

California Attorney General Kamala Harris filed twin lawsuits against Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to force them to answer questions after a federal regulator tried to block her state inquiry.

Kamala Harris, the Golden State's top law enforcement officer, is after hard answers with a vengeance, investigating Freddie's and Fannie's landlord roles in tens of thousands of foreclosed properties in California.

Litigation was officially kicked-off in San Francisco Superior Court, hot on the heels of the attorney general's recent subpoenas demanding answers about mortgages bought by Fannie and Freddie and the foreclosed California properties they own.

"Foreclosures not only affect the families who lose their homes, but also the safety, health and welfare of the entire community," the lawsuits proclaim.

Fannie and Freddie may control 60 percent of California mortgages, but the state is not intimidated by the two mortgage giants nor by federal regulators.

The U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency told Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac not to comply with California's demand for answers.  They asked Attorney General Harris to withdraw her subpoenas, which she did not, and will not.

In her subpoenas, Attorney General Harris demanded a record of every vacant house owned by Fannie and Freddie in the state.  She also wanted them to hand over information on the decreased value of those homes due to the prostitution, drug dealing, radioactive materials, explosives and weapons found inside those homes.

Busted.

The California attorney general also demanded that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac disclose whether they have complied with civil rights laws protecting minorities and members of the armed forces against unlawful foreclosures.

Busted again.

Harris' lawsuits also serve to determine whether Fannie and Freddie are complying with California's securities and tax laws or not.

Ouch.

The shocked FHFA quickly declared that California is "engaged in an open-ended exploratory investigation" that might weaken the authority of the FHFA and place undue burdens on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were taken over by the U.S. government.

California, the media capitol of the world, is preparing for a very public battle over whether American states can investigate Fannie and Freddie while they are under a federal regulator's control.  All U.S. states, as well as nations around the world, will be paying close attention to developments, guaranteed.

In the legal actions filed today, Attorney General Kamala Harris declared that the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency was out-of-line when it dismissed inquiries against private companies that operate in California --- drawing stunned silence from FHFA representatives.

Attorney General Harris criticized Fannie and Freddie for not modifying mortgages or reducing loan balances for borrowers who are financially underwater.

Further, Harris had the guts to call on the head of the FHFA to "step aside" if he won't approve write-downs of principal.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has brought civil fraud charges against SIX former executives at Fannie and Freddie, including former Freddie CEO Richard Syron and former Fannie CEO Daniel Mudd.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has created a new task force that is pursuing criminal charges and civil judgments in mortgage fraud cases.

Heart-breakers, dream-makers and love-takers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac --- watch out.  Hell hath no fury like a California scorned.

Don't Mess Around With California.

Kim Kardashian Attacked in Public

A liberal gay group is demonizing Kim Kardashian and attacking the Kardashian brand in hopes of manipulating California voters into supporting a 'millionaires tax' in 2012.

A new ad from the Courage Campaign attempts to shame Kim Kardashian into paying more taxes to the State of California than she already does --- on top of the enormous amount of sales tax and property tax she pays annually.

The Courage Campaign, a Los Angeles group whose partners include the teachers' union and the nurses' union, wants people to watch their tasteless video, then support them by getting Kim Kardashian to endorse the 'millionaires' tax.  Whatever.

The pro-gay marriage group states, "Surprisingly, [Kim] pays only 1 percentage point more in taxes than the average Californian, 9.3 percent," then highlights how many shoes Kim Kardashian buys and points out that the TV star grossed $12 million last year.  And?

If the average Californian made $47K to Kim Kardashian's $12 million, then 9 or 10 percent of her income is certainly a lot more in state tax than the average Joe paid.  So, what exactly is the point of publicly shaming Kim Kardashian through a tacky negative attack ad?

Is this how the "advocacy" group's "courage" is invested after begging for money from their donors?  How embarrassing.

Clearly, the Courage Campaign sees a tiny crack forming in the Kardashian brand and wishes to fully exploit it for their own gain.

Their video (below) asks, "Don't you think she could pay a little more, especially to fund education and critical services?"

The Courage Campaign is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization and the Courage Campaign Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  How much in state taxes have they paid?

Kim Kardashian SHOULD pay more in tax dollars, and the best way for her to do so is to generate even MORE income, like we all should in California.

It is time for people to stop bitching about how successful others are, get off their whining asses, and create some real success of their own.  That takes real courage.

California's Internet Sperm Donor

December 19, 2011

Internet sperm donor Trent Arsenault of Fremont, California has been warned by federal authorities to stop giving away cups of his sperm to anyone who stops by his house.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspectors have repeatedly shown up at the California sperm donor's residence and ultimately issued Arsenault a 'cease and desist' order, which he is ignoring as he continues to donate his sperm free of charge.

Oddly, the FDA considers Arsenault’s free service to be a BUSINESS.

After 'fathering' at least 10 babies since 2006, Trent Arsenault, 36, has received no financial compensation for his semenal gifts to infertile couples unable to afford the $2,000 per sperm sample average cost at a commercial fertility clinic.

The FDA states, however, that sperm donations must follow officially approved steps, including screening for sexually transmitted diseases, typically done at fertility clinics (commercial businesses that pay tax money to the government).

Trent Arsenault had considered donating through San Francisco Bay Area sperm banks, which offer cash and anonymity, but he opted to give his fresh sperm away in sterilized cups so he could personally meet the future parents.

He and the sperm recipients sign a preliminary legal agreement absolving him of any custody rights or financial responsibility for any resulting children, though several parents have insisted that he meet their babies after birth.

What motivates Arsenault, a preacher's son and Silicon Valley tech professional, to volunteer his sperm for the benefit of strangers?

"I always had known through people praying at church that there's fertility issues.  I thought it would just be a neat way of service to help the community," says Arsenault.

The sexually abstinent California sperm donor now faces a $100,000 fine or a year in federal prison.  He insists he is being targeted by the FDA because his TrentDonor.org website promotes his free sperm donations (and eliminates the profiteering middleman).

The healthy Annapolis Naval Academy graduate has just hired an attorney to fight the federal case.

"What the FDA is doing infringes on reproductive rights. The government is reaching into the bedroom," Arsenault declares. "There's no precedence for my case. Whatever happens to me kind of sets the future up for all the other people in these situations."

Many find it interesting that Trent Arsenault would not be facing any trouble from the U.S. government if he would simply commit fornication or adultery, both of which are forbidden by God in the Bible which Arsenault reads daily.

Kim Jong-Il Death Koreatown Reaction

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il is dead, his son Kim Jong-Un is the assumed successor, and L.A.'s Koreatown is monitoring news coverage for developments affecting relatives on the Korean Peninsula.

A quarter-million Koreans live in Southern California with most of them residing in the Koreatown district of Los Angeles, the Korean capitol of America.

The North Korean state-delayed news of the death of Kim Jong-Il is blaring from radios, televisions, the Korea Times of Los Angeles and Korean websites with a fury.

Worried that Kim Jong-Il's death at age 69 will have a destabilizing effect on greater Korea, Californians are calling relatives in South Korea to exchange information, share concerns and plot strategies.

Kim Jong-Il's death has shifted the global focus to his youngest son Kim Jong-Un, whom many believe will rule briefly until a non-family member is democratically elected.

North Korea's 24 million people are said to be rallying round Kim Jong-Un, according to the Korean Central News Agency which officially stated, "At the leadership of comrade Kim Jong-Un, we have to change sadness to strength and courage and overcome today's difficulties."

The Swiss-educated Kim Jong-Un, 30, is far more worldly, globally-connected, Internet-savvy and diplomatically-aware than his late father was and speaks Korean, Mandarin Chinese, English, German and French.

Because the transfer of North Korean power will affect Californians, directly and indirectly, United Nations sources have told Californiality that negotiations are already underway between international parties regarding:
  • Modernization of the North Korean economy
  • Bringing the nuclear nation "into the fold"
  • Democratic elections
  • International aid, loans and credit
  • Normalization of global diplomatic relations
  • Technological assistance from California
  • Establishment of ongoing dialogue between North and South
Talks involving North Korea, South Korea, China, the United States, Japan and Russia had been scheduled but were never held.  Pyongyang cancelled them three years ago.  The same parties, especially China, are now insisting on rescheduling talks.

China's President Hu Jintao is willing to step up with diplomatic and financial support for Kim Jong-Un, but Beijing insists that the new North Korean leader prove his strength through openness and a willingness to cooperate.

The Korean People's Army, however, may find it difficult to patiently wait for an entrenched state system to institute progressive changes.  They view Kim Jong-Un as the figurehead of a regime manipulated by members of the ruling party.

Others in Koreatown are more optimistic, denying the possibility of a people's revolt or a North Korean million-man military coup and they point out that Kim Jong-Un has the ability and opportunity to revolutionize North Korea --- though some heads will have to roll first.

South Korea has put its military on the highest alert, but diplomats in Seoul are seeking talks with Kim Jong-Un as soon as possible to openly address the common concerns faced by all on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Jong-Il had recently sought large amounts of aid amid a famine and international sanctions imposed after two controversial and unsettling nuclear tests.  Urgent economic needs must be assisted, however, before peaceful talks can commence.

International diplomacy sources say that young Kim Jong-Un realizes that, by contrasting his leadership to his father's dictatorship, he can be a hero by allowing some prosperous changes, even small ones, to begin affecting the lives of average North Koreans in 2012.

The North Korean 'good-ole-boys' network, not wanting to relinquish power, is paying lip service to the new leader.  Reportedly, the established elite are quickly consolidating their power and allies for an imminent confrontation using Kim Jong-Il's brother-in-law Jang Song-Taek to challenge the young leader, if necessary.

For now, North Korea is perched on a see-saw's center of gravity, awaiting the next move.

Korean-Americans in Los Angeles know which way they want the balance to shift and are quickly doing all they can to assist the transition from Koreatown.

Joi Lansing TV's Blonde Bombshell

December 17, 2011

Joi Lansing is television's undisputed all-time #1 blonde bombshell.

Officially dubbed "TV's Marilyn Monroe" by the Hollywood entertainment industry, Joi Lansing appeared in a record-setting 300 television episodes as the platinum blonde femme fatale of the small screen.

In a Hollywood life of sizzling glamor, Joi Lansing graced the cover of LIFE, enticed lovers Mickey Rooney, Orson Welles and Frank Sinatra, was crowned "Miss Hollywood," became the #1 pin-up girl of the Vietnam War and sang in history's very first music videos.

Signed by MGM Studios as a teenager, Joi Lansing found herself competing with fellow newcomer Marilyn Monroe for the part in All About Eve, which Monroe got.

Regularly cast in B-movies as a contemporary of Jayne Mansfield and Mamie Van Doren, the sexy starlet felt trapped.

Although she appeared as an unnamed extra in films like Singin' In The Rain, and she starred in movies like Queen of Outer Space and Touch of Evil with co-star Zsa Zsa Gabor, Joi Lansing wanted more exposure as an actress and pop singer.

As a university student at UCLA, Joi Lansing was not content to play dumb blondes.  When studio bosses offered her a different route than Monroe, Mamie and Mansfield --- TELEVISION --- the ambitious blonde jumped at the chance.

Throughout a staggering 300 episodes of hit television shows like I Love Lucy, Ozzie and Harriet and The Beverly Hillbillies, Joi Lansing poured herself into roles that redefined the Hollywood stereotype of the busty platinum blonde bombshell sex symbol.

Instead of playing breathy dumb blondes, Joi Lansing steered her characters toward empowerment as aggressive femmes fatales

Though still vulnerable, there was something about Lansing's portrayals that always said "danger."

In the 1960's, Joi Lansing appeared on every broadcasting network, on every TV channel, and on every television set in America.  She was the sex symbol that appeared most often in people's homes.

Though she got the massive exposure she was after, was it fulfilling?  Not entirely.  Joi Lansing still felt trapped or, as she put it, "trapped in the web of love."

Joi Lansing died young and tragically of cancer in 1972 and is now buried in Santa Paula, California.  Her pioneering music videos from the '60s live on, however.

Her biggest hit music video (below) from 1966 remains popular today as a cult classic that has inspired today's contemporaries like Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry --- and it tells the true Hollywood story of television's #1 sex symbol, Joi Lansing.

#1 California Poem on the Internet Exclusively on Californiality.com

"I AM CALIFORNIA"

I am the creative genesis persisting amid chaos; the idea made manifest.

I am the eternal state of "becoming".

Ever changing, morphing and mutating, my essence reflects the mind of my Creator.

Purity, perfection and productivity are my principles.

I am innovation; the perennially new. I am relentless forward momentum.

I am the unity of the spiritual, the mental and the physical. I am symmetry and balance.

I am the created who recreates; the blessed who blesses; the beloved who loves without prejudice.

I am expression; the vision seen; the voice heard; the thought interpreted.

Races, religions and cultures are my colors, hues and shades. Variety is my lifeblood.

I am the portrait of humanity which beckons an impassioned brush stroke from every hand.

I am relationship; always conversing, sharing, belonging, reciprocating, accepting and providing.

I am contrary; an oasis in the desert; order from chaos; beauty from ashes; hope from despair; unity from diversity; light from darkness.

I am information, communication, technology and intelligence always seeking Wisdom.

Ever the student of the Eternal, I instruct willing minds through my failures and successes.

I am the experience; the be-in; the adventure; the journey; the trip. I am interactivity and participation.

I am the ultimate; the zenith; the apex; the extreme; the max. Limitless minds are my companions into the timeless unknown.

I am to be merged with; not to simply be admired from afar. My visions are to be shared; my dreams are to be realized; my desires are to be consummated.

I am the fruit of ambition, effort and achievement. I am the rarest wine to be tasted, savored and thoroughly enjoyed, not merely collected.

Golden, priceless and breathtaking, I am the star-studded dream, the quaking vision, and the imagination on fire.

I am California.
