"California Wine" Jason Heath

Apr 29, 2012

"California Wine" is a single from the 2012 album 'Packed for Exile' by the Americana rock band Jason Heath & The Greedy Souls from Los Angeles.

A song which lyrically portrays a modern female archetype, "California Wine" also relies upon the L.A. stereotype of an out-of-control celebrity who is out of touch and out-of-reach.

"California Wine" features a starry-eyed woman amid the skyscrapers of a golden state of mind, with her name in lights, a life of constant pageantry and worshipers up the ying yang.

She falls asleep in a golden sequined manger as she cries diamond tears to the sound of a laugh track playing in her head.

Surely, the woman must be high on California wine.  She is!

The "California Wine" music video (below), directed by Jeff Kussmann, features an attractive girl-next-door gone bad --- but not totally off a cliff.

While many speculate that the song was written about one Hollywood celebrity or another, it doesn't matter when the song is so cool.

"California Wine" by Jason Heath & The Greedy Souls is a crowd pleaser and one of the best California songs for popping the cork and spinning the bottle.
