Madonna vs Gaga Copyright Catfight
Jun 10, 2012
The battle between Lady Gaga and Madonna is being called the 'Battle of the Bottle Blondes' as the pop icons exchange jabs over what some say is music plagiarism and copyright infringement.
Widespread comments that Lady Gaga's 2011 hit song "Born This Way" sounds too much like Madonna's 1989 smash single "Express Yourself" simply will not die down.
During a new concert performance in Auckland, New Zealand, Lady Gaga, 26, verbally slapped Madonna, 53, causing fans to choose sides.
"It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work," said Lady Gaga. "And that doesn't make me feel good at all."
Earlier this year, Madonna the Queen of Pop publicly called-out Gaga by performing a blatant mashup of "Born This Way" and "Express Yourself" during her LIVE concert in Tel Aviv, Israel, suggesting that Gaga is a copycat.
To further her point, Madonna also featured Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" during an ABC News interview, which reportedly caused Gaga's claws to come out.
"When I heard it on the radio, I said that sounds very familiar," Madonna told the ABC TV interviewer. "It feels reductive."Now that Lady Gaga has a concussion after being hit with a pole by a tour dancer, she says she has no time to engage in verbal battles with Madonna.
"I don't even want to fight back because it's more important to me to keep writing music," Gaga now declares.
Madonna reportedly feels bad about Lady Gaga's concussion --- but does her point remain that "Born This Way" is too much of a 'tribute' to "Express Yourself" without attribution?
Music industry sources say that the battle of Madonna vs Lady Gaga has only just begun. Will there be litigation? The following video of a song mash-up is most revealing.
