Best Summer Song of 2012
Jul 7, 2012
"Magic Summertime" by Eleni Mandell is this year's Song of the Summer, hands down. Toss every other summer song aside.
Los Angeles singer-songwriter Eleni Mandell, 42, knows how to create a timeless hit song for adults wanting quality music. "Magic Summertime" is a stellar example of just that.
Mandell takes a rather played-out pop chord progression and makes it brand new, emotional and dreamily enticing with "Magic Summertime," which is so difficult to do that only top-tier songwriters can pull it off.
"Magic Summertime" was released just days ago and it's already a classic. Historically, this is the type of song that sits atop the Adult Contemporary chart for four consecutive weeks. The sound is definitely there.
The song is the lead single from Eleni Mandell's new album for 2012, I Can See the Future, produced by Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, The Strokes, White Stripes).
If you've been inside of a Starbucks lately, you've heard the song, though you may have thought it was by Blondie. The constant comparison between Eleni Mandell and Debbie Harry is a compliment to both.A native California girl from Los Angeles, Mandell is also a member of the folk group The Living Sisters with phenomenal L.A. recording artists Inara George (The Bird and the Bee) and Becky Stark (Lavender Diamond).
