With so many factions apparently intent on separating and fragmenting every segment of society, it has become increasingly difficult for most people to imagine a world without social polarization and enmity.
Many today still remember The Golden Rule, or the ethic of reciprocity, which states that one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.
How then did society reach the point of narcissistic selfishness witnessed by so many today?
The time period from the year 3 A.D. through 1961, was a spiritually-intensive period known as The Christian Era, during which time The Golden Rule enjoyed widespread appreciation and application.
The time period from 1962 through 2011 was a transitory era of psycho-spiritual application within individuals and society, heavily marked by intense advertising, marketing and mass-manipulation of minds through emotion.
The current age, which began in 2012, is purely psychological, operating on data, information and communications. Today, the human mind is considered machine-like more than it was in the past.
In this unfolding age, society appears to value an individual's ability to accumulate and utilize data more than it values meaningful, emotional interactions between people.
Human beings fundamentally consist of spirituality, mentality and physicality. It's just how we're put together.
Life without any of these three human dimensions is mind-splitting and imbalanced, leading to a double-minded condition in the individual, which can in turn influence society.
The resulting battle becomes waged between Intelligence and Wisdom, which are not the same.
Wisdom results from the balance of spirituality, mentality and physicality, while intelligence is merely fact-based, data-oriented and investigatory.
Any vehicle that aims solely to accumulate a hive-mind through aggressive intelligence gathering should be utilized with the type of discretion that Wisdom affords. Otherwise, such a vehicle can and may be used to manipulate and control minds.
When an individual "comes together" personally by equally uniting the spiritual, mental and physical aspects within his/her own life, individual harmony can be achieved.
When society "comes together" in the same manner, constructive social changes can be properly instituted to benefit all stakeholders equally, not just the power-hungry.
The goal of social harmony is indeed possible when "together" individuals influence a "together" society.
Let's Come Together.
