Feds Drop Joe Arpaio Case

Sep 1, 2012

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been cleared of abuse-of-power charges by the U.S. Attorney's Office after a four-year investigation at taxpayer expense.

No charges will be filed against "America's Toughest Sheriff" as Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Birmingham Scheel closes her investigation into criminal conduct allegations against Sheriff Joe.

The U.S. Attorney's Office pursued no charges against the Maricopa County Sheriff's office after an investigation into claims of misappropriation of funds and other accusations of financial wrongdoing.

"After careful review, we do not believe the allegations presented to us are prosecutable as crimes," declared Ann Birmingham Scheel.

The Department of Justice reached the same conclusion.

Supporters of Joe Arpaio in Arizona, California, and across America feel vindicated and relieved to hear the news.

"Sheriff Joe is a great American, a true patriot and a loyal ally.  I am so excited that this long investigation has finally stopped and that Joe was cleared, just like we knew he would be," said former California governor candidate Chelene Nightingale.

Straight to the point, Sheriff Joe Arpaio kept it short after being cleared by the U.S Attorney's office, saying "I am very happy with that."
