Green Day Billy Joe Armstrong Rant

Sep 23, 2012

Billie Joe Armstrong of the California rock band Green Day exploded into anger, F-bombs and even a Justin Bieber diss when told he had one minute remaining at the iHeartRadio Festival in Vegas.

In the aftermath of the onstage meltdown, Armstrong has checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment.

Green Day's set had been cut from 45 minutes down to 25 minutes, allegedly because Usher took too much time on stage, which pissed off the legendary punk rock group that's been making music for a quarter-century.

Enraged at suddenly being told to wrap up the set early (as if Green Day sucks), lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong melted down onstage into an irate rant-fest full of expletives and a smashed guitar to emphasize his point.

The stunned audience of thousands cheered, though many were simply in shock.

"You're gonna give me one minute?" Armstrong screamed. "I've been around since f-ing nineteen eighty f-king eight, and you're gonna give me one minute?  You've gotta be f-ing kidding me!"

Billie Joe Armstrong, 40, continued his tirade as his Green Day band mates stood onstage.

"I'm not f-ing Justin Bieber, you motherf-ers!  Let me show you what one f-ing minute f-ing means!"

Armstrong smashed his guitar into pieces on the stage, flipped his middle finger to those in charge of the concert, then stormed offstage as he threw the microphone.

The entire episode can be seen in the video below.  If you can't handle the F-word, don't watch the video.

"Green day wants to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas," said the rock group in a statement.  "The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances."

Green Day are working hard to promote their brand new album Uno!, and the band is scheduled to kick off a nationwide tour November 26 in Seattle.

Perhaps Billie Joe Armstrong had a legitimate point regarding disrespect for music industry tenure, though it was made abrasively.
