Redding Totally Rocks
Sep 16, 2012
Redding is a Northern California city of 125,000 on Interstate 5, halfway between Mexico and Canada, at the northernmost end of the Great Central Valley.
One of the most beautiful cities in America, Redding is the county government seat of Shasta County, California, and has been the capital of the unrecognized State of Jefferson since 1941.
The U.S. State of Jefferson is the result of a secessionist movement affecting Northern California and Southern Oregon, which asserted and enforced its independence in 1941.
The December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor instantly federalized the nation, thwarting the momentum and progress of the new State of Jefferson, which remains officially unrecognized in 2012.
The largest city in the Shasta Cascade region, the City of Redding was incorporated 125 years ago in 1887.
Redding is home to the Sacramento River, Shasta Lake, Lassen Peak, the Shasta Dam and the world famous Sundial Bridge.
The dominant social attitude of Redding is proudly un-Hollywood, decidedly un-L.A. and defiantly un-San Francisco, though the city's independence, self-reliance and iconoclastic spirit make it quintessentially Californian.
In other words, Redding rocks! High on the scale of individualistic California hipness, Redding is extremely cool and local residents love living there.
The following video shows how fun Redding can be, even on the gorgeous outskirts of town. No wonder people are moving there.
Redding Totally Rocks.
