Government Compensation in California

Dec 17, 2012

California State Controller John Chiang has updated the official government salaries website, Government Compensation in California (GCC), which is a revelation to California taxpayers.

The redesigned publicpay.ca.gov website shows the salary, pension benefits and various compensation amounts for city and county public employees through 2011.

Two years ago, Chiang ordered local governments across the Golden State to provide salary and other compensation information on their employees to his office.

The California Compensation in California website was built from such data.

Controller John Chiang's website provides tools, searches, analyses, charts, graphs, and direct access to the payroll database.

Data includes hard numbers from cities, counties, California State University campuses, community colleges, and the State of California.

The publicpay.ca.gov website covers:
  • Elected officials
  • Public employees
  • Minimum/maximum salary ranges
  • Regular pay
  • Overtime
  • Vacation pay
  • Sick pay
  • Bonuses
  • Taxes
  • Retirement pay
  • Pension costs
  • Health benefits
All California taxpayers are encouraged to visit the Government Compensation in California website for a real eye-opener.
