"California" The Stand Out State

Jan 5, 2013

"California" is a 2013 pop song about California by the indie rock band The Stand Out State from Sacramento, California.

A musical tribute to The Stand Out State's home turf, "California" lyrically declares that, no matter where Californians may roam around the world, California always calls them back home.

"Out of state but never out of mind" is a prominent line in the song, which especially rings true for those who are emotionally homesick for California.

A native California band of best buds founded in 2011, The Stand Out State consists of band members:
  • Grayson Gerstenkorn - Vocals/Guitar
  • Jared Kaser - Guitar
  • Adam Dillon - Bass
  • Daniel Paulin - Drums
"We love to challenge ourselves and make music we would listen too," say the popular rock musicians who refer to their listeners as friends, not fans.

The music video (below) for "California" was beautifully filmed along the Pacific coast by Morgan Wright and Maxine Baker, and the video was directed by Samantha Baker.

While the video may appear at first to be a fashion shoot with male models on the beach for GQ magazine, it really is a rock music video and a totally cool one.

Beautiful people in a beautiful setting playing beautiful music --- it doesn't get more authentically California than this, dudes.

"California" is the first of many songs about California for 2013 and a very cool way to kick off the new year.  Much success to The Stand Out State, a highly marketable band indeed.
