L.A. Runoff: Garcetti vs Greuel
Mar 6, 2013
The Los Angeles mayor's race now continues toward a May 21 runoff election with Wendy Greuel and Eric Garcetti facing off, Democrat vs. Democrat.
L.A. City Councilman Eric Garcetti, 42, and L.A. City Controller Wendy Greuel, 51, were the top two candidates in the March 5 election.
Garcetti got 33 percent of Angelenos' votes and Greuel received 29 percent.
Republican mayoral candidate Kevin James earned third place with 16 percent of the Los Angeles vote in his bid to succeed outgoing Democratic Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
If mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel wins the May 21 runoff election, she will be the first female mayor in Los Angeles history.
